Sometimes a little practical help can make a big difference.

We work alongside local residents, families and community organisations to offer support, share resources and help people find the services they need.

Our work includes food support, digital inclusion, community activities and practical guidance.

FRIDAY FOOD BANK & COMMUNITY SPACE

More than a bag of food.

Come for free food, a fried egg, tea or coffee, and stay for a friendly chat. There are no restrictions and no judgement.

Volunteers help collect surplus food, sort deliveries, welcome visitors and take food to some people on the Deronda Estate who cannot reach the hall.

PRACTICAL COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Need to use a washing machine?

Community members can ask to arrange a suitable time to use the washing machine at Deronda Hall. Every visit must be agreed in advance so it can be managed safely around hall bookings and activities.

Need a laptop, tablet or smartphone?

Lavender Hope can arrange a short appointment to discuss your circumstances and, where the current criteria appear to be met, help make an organisation referral to Community TechAid.

Devices depend on assessed need and available stock and are not guaranteed.
Current Lambeth guidance says applicants must be 18 or over, live in Lambeth and be in a low income household.
Residents cannot self refer. An approved organisation submits the request.

Lavender Hope records outcomes, protects confidential information and explains its work in a way that residents, partners and funders can understand.

Evidence and outcomes

We record visits, collections, deliveries, attendance, referrals, appointments, hall use, partnerships and feedback. Public reporting uses totals and anonymised outcomes.

Safeguarding

Relevant roles have Enhanced DBS checks. Concerns and incidents are recorded and appropriate escalation routes are used.

Compliance

Records include policies, insurance, professional registration, training, risk assessments, privacy and consent records.

Confidentiality

Personal data, certificates and safeguarding records are not published online. Suitable evidence can be discussed during an agreed meeting.

What is Lavender Hope CIC?

Lavender Hope is a Community Interest Company, not a registered charity. Income supports its community purpose, and its asset lock helps protect assets for community benefit.

Why do you charge for hiring Deronda Hall?

Hall hire contributes to utilities, cleaning, maintenance, insurance, security, essential services and free or subsidised community activity.

Doesn’t Lavender Hope receive grant funding?

Yes. Grants are usually restricted to particular projects and do not necessarily cover all everyday running costs. Hall hire, partnerships, donations, volunteers and Lavender Hope’s own resources also help sustain the work.

Who can access Deronda Hall?

Authorised users can access the hall after agreeing dates and times. This prevents clashes and supports fair access, security and safeguarding.

Can I ask to see records or evidence?

Lavender Hope is happy to discuss its work. Some records cannot be published because they contain personal, confidential or safeguarding information, but suitable information can be discussed during an agreed meeting.

Can residents ask questions or suggest improvements?

Absolutely. Residents can speak with Lavender Hope, complete the survey, suggest an activity, ask about volunteering or arrange a longer conversation.

Lavender Hope was founded in loving memory of Julia, whose life continues to inspire our vision of a kinder, more connected community.

What began as a deeply personal journey has grown into a place where people come together, find support and create opportunities for one another.

Our community has helped shape everything Lavender Hope has become, and our story continues to grow.

Julia’s experiences made us think deeply about what can happen when someone is struggling and does not feel heard, understood or able to find the right support at the right time.

From that experience grew a hope: to build something that could bring people together, strengthen community connections and, in time, develop earlier support that may help people before they reach crisis.

Much of Lavender Hope’s work so far has focused on practical and social needs through Deronda Hall. The original ambition to develop suitable earlier support has not been forgotten and will be approached with the right partnerships, skills, safeguarding, resources and community involvement.
